Mechanical Engineering Sandwich Program
CPAT –TVS offers a 3 ½ -year Sandwich Program in Mechanical Engineering.
This program provides an introduction to the concepts, principles and application of Mechanical Engineering in Industry.
These principles and concepts of Mechanical engineering are applied to the plan, design, development, testing and manufacturing of mechanical equipments and machines, to product evaluation and machine tool maintenance.
Mechanical Engineering is also used in a wide variety of systems such as Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation and in the application of Quality systems such as TQM and TPM.
The courses in Mechanical Engineering (ME) include – Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science, Fluid Dynamics, Design of Machine Elements, Industrial Automation, CAD / CAM and Industrial Engineering and Management.
Special courses that all students in this stream are required to take include Values, Yoga and Meditation, Business Economics & Entrepreneurship, High School level Math and Science, Functional English, CNC Programming & Machining, Pneumatics & Hydraulics, PLC, CAD- CAM.
Continual revision and up gradation of the curriculum ensures exposure to new technology and new industrial practices in Engineering and Services. Students get to study under experienced faculty members and factory supervisors and managers.
This program prepares students for a diverse array of employment opportunities and to pursue further education.
During the 4th and 7th semesters, students go through in-plant training in state-of-the- art industries where they receive hands-on training in GPMs, Programming & Producing components on CNC Machines, Precision Measuring Instruments, CMM, Material Testing, Machine Tool Maintenance &Servicing, Welding, CAD/CAM, Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics, PLC and Computer interfaces.
During the 7th semester students also complete industrial projects in their field. These experiences give them a direct understanding of industrial manufacturing systems and processes, and quality concepts. This enhances their employability.
The students
After completion of the Diploma in Sandwich program, students are eligible for a lateral entry to the second year of Engineering Degree Program, while they continue to work in the industries.
Or, they can join the second year of the full time engineering program.
Every successful graduate has been employed by leading industries in the region. CPAT-TVS students have received excellent commendations from their industrial employers for their innovative ideas, high motivation and initiative.
The CPAT-TVS Mechanical Diploma Engineers have been placed in the following industrial establishments -
