WHAT DO MECHANICAL ENGINEERS DO?

Mechanical technicians design, maintain, construct, and modify machines, tools, consumer products, and mechanical equipment. Mechanical technicians are some of the most in-demand employees across the engineering industry. They work on a variety of projects including sketching new machine parts using computer-aided drafting and design equipment, manufacturing products, and simplifying processes.

THE CPAT MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DIPLOMA PROGRAM

CPAT-TVS offers a 3 ½-year Sandwich Program in Mechanical Engineering.

This program provides an introduction to the concepts and principles of Mechanical Engineering in Industry. These principles and concepts are applied to the plan, design, development, testing, and manufacturing of mechanical equipment and machines, product processes evaluation, machine tool maintenance, automation, and the application of Quality systems such as TQM and TPM.

Courses Offered

The courses in the Mechanical Engineering Program include Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science, Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power, Design of Machine Elements, Industrial Automation, CAD/CAM, and Industrial Engineering and Management.

THE IN-PLANT TRAINING PROGRAM (IPT)

During the 4th and 7th semesters, students go through in-plant training in state-of-the-art industries where they receive hands-on training in GPMs, Programming & Producing components on CNC Machines, Precision Measuring Instruments, CMM, Material Testing, Machine Tool Maintenance & Servicing, Welding, CAD/CAM, Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics, PLC and Computer interfaces.

During the 7th semester, students complete industrial projects in their field. The project gives them a direct experience of working in industrial conditions, and a deeper understanding of quality in manufacturing systems and processes and makes them industry-ready.
